Colors schemes for a kitchen?
I'm looking to redo my kitchen and I keep running into snags. I love country style kitchens (red n white or blue n yellow) but I want to install a tile backsplash & new countertops in a neutral color as I'll be reselling down the road? Any thoughts?
You are wise to think ahead and install a back splash and counter tops in neutral colors. And, your instincts, "running into snags" are correct in that this neutral color pallet will look odd with red and white or blue and yellow.
However, you can still decorate in a country style with tan and red or tan and blue. Any spicy color pallet will work too: rusty reds, golden yellows, burnt oranges and sage greens. All of these color combinations can easily be incorporated in country decor.
You may just want to paint the walls a pleasing neutral color and then add all your color in accessories, curtains and table linens along with colorful dishes. Or, paint just one wall with an accent color for now so you can enjoy some color until you put the house on the market. At that time, all you have to do is paint that one wall to match the others.
