Should I take legal action against my landlord?
Let me fill you in on some backstory first.
Me and my girlfriend live together in an apartment with an absolutely HORRIBLE landlord, he never fixes anything, we have sent him e-mail after e-mail and verbally told him many times about the things that needed to be fixed. He still to this day has not fixed anything.
About 2 months ago me and my girlfriend were taking a shower and the ceiling fell like 3 inches, it was kinda scary but we just brushed it off and reported it right away to the landlord, 2 months go by and he still hasn't fixed it after many attempts to contact him.
This morning as me and my girlfriend are getting ready for the day we took a shower to save time, and I got out early, right as I got out I hear a huge crash, and my girlfriend screaming her head off. I run into the bathroom to find her covered in ceiling tiles and metal poles everywhere.
She is injured, and is going to the hopital today. What should we do legally? Anything?
find a record of all the emails you have sent to him so you have proof that youve asked him to fix stuff and that he hasnt. take lots of pictures of the damaged things in your apartment, and of your girlfriends injurys.
then find yourself a good lawyer and yes, take legal action. ive heard of shitty landlords before but never one bad enough to let the celing fall in on someone
