What is this Japanese sweet?
In high school, I was friends with a Japanese foreign exchange student. Her mom used to send her sweets from home that she would share with me. Lately, I have been craving one in particular, but I can't remember what it's called.
The best way I can think to describe the shape is an unbaked peanut butter cookie. It is a round sweet bread, with criss-cross patterns on top. It's filled with a very dry, sweet green paste (maybe matcha, but I'm not sure). Each one was individually wrapped, and a little bit larger than a half-dollar coin. Does anybody know what this sweet is?

All of my searches turned up mochi as well, but it wasn't mochi. It was definitely a bread, not a rice. And the reason I'm not sure it was matcha (green tea) is that it was a very light green colour, instead of the very dark shade that matcha filling tends to be.
Sounds like to me it could be either
Melon-pan (melon shaped sweet bread)
or
Uguisu-pan (sweet bread filled with green sweet bean paste)
