Floor Protector Pads
What kind of mattress protector would be thick enough to help with the "new" smell of my mattress?
I bought a mattress with memory foam inside the first layer. I bought the floor model to reduce chance of smell, so I can't return it... I mean, it's wonderful, it had been airing out on the floor for around a year, but the smell seems to be hard to cover up (I bought a mattress protector to cover up the smell, perhaps I bought the "wrong one"?)... I also got a mattress pad, but it's not enough to cover up the smell either...
Does anyone know of a good mattress encasement that would be thick enough to cover up the smell of the mattress but not be smelly itself/even if it is made of vinyl...

I don't know of a protector that would accomplish what you're looking to do.
I would sprinkle the mattress liberally with baking soda, leave it overnight and then vacuum. This should knock out most of the mattress smell. Apply a regular mattress protector and spray with either Lysol or Febreze when changing the sheets. Repeat the baking soda application as needed.
