Kitchen Back Splash
i want to install place mats in my kitchen as a back splash behind my sink. Any ideas on how to do that?
i found these really cute place mats that are really inexpensive and goes with all the colors that i've picked. i want to know how would i go about installing them and should i put a clear gloss paint over it????

i think the best thing to hold it in place would be contact cement...then you can pant it with water based shellac....may need a couple of good coats to make it waterproof and washable
