Laminate Kitchen Countertop
Old Kitchen Laminate Countertop L-Shaped?

Hi,I have an old Laminate kitchen countertop that needs replacing as
it is peeling up.Underneath are 1x5 boards or planks all in good shape,I
have the laminate sheet, glue, roller & router. The old laminate seems like it
will come up easily but I am concerned with removing the old glue to have
a good surface to adhere. What are the steps and tools to this process as
I wanna just improve the cosmetics for now and not run out & buy a new
cabinet? Thanks
Its fairly secure only puffed up at edges near the backsplash.I
may just give it a shot and if all fails, in goes new plywood.

Is the old laminate fairly secure? If it is still adhered, you can rough up the old laminate with sandpaper and glue right over it.

If it is already peeling off at the edges, you could loosen the rest of the glue using lacquer thinner and hope that the resulting surface is fairly smooth. You may need to scrape off any high points and then apply a thicker coat of contact cement using a hard paint roller made for glues in order to take up imperfections in the surface.
