Tiles Interlocking Floor

Want black and white checkered tile garage floor - what type of tile should I use?
I'm building a new garage, and I want to install a black and white checkered tile floor in a portion of it. What type of tile should I use? I know linoleum wouldn't work, it has to be a harder surface than that. I'm not looking for the interlocking rubber/plastic floor tile, I'm looking for tile that you actually glue down permanently. I wondered if asphalt tile is what I should use, but I've also heard that asphalt tile is easily softened by solvents and greases (which it is bound to see).
I've looked at the epoxy coatings like ucoatit, and I'm still considering them. But, overall, I think the tile might be a better option. They're easy to repair / replace individual tiles, and they've got a classic appearance. Does anyone happen to know what type of tile would be best to use?
I would most likely go for a VCT tile, they are the kind 12x12 tile you see in schools, college and maybe shopping malls. My family has owned and operated a tile and carpet business for over 60 years now and i know they have put VCT tile down in similiar situations like yours. IT maybe a little slippery, but just be careful thats all, it will look very nice though. Another plus side to the 12x12 is that if one ever gets damaged they are easily replace just by taking a large chisel and popping them right on out and put some new adhesive down and put the new one right in. One downfall might be it may stain. If you ever spill some oil on it i would clean that up ASAP. An epoxy floor would be the best bet for traction and durability but its ugly. Black and white checker is the ultimate look for a kick ass shop. Hope this helps. Good luck
